Deise Draw
It's getting towards d-day for the start of the 2013 Deise Draw and we would again appeal to all members and supporters to support this very important fundraiser. The first draw takes place this Friday 29th March in Ballygunner and with twenty five prizes on offer now is the time to buy or share in a ticket at €10 per month. David O Brien or any committee member is your port of call for tickets.

Tony Mansfield
The passing of Tony Mansfield a few weeks ago brought to a close one of the more prolific and active Waterford GAA careers of the last fifty years. Tallow and Abbeyside were always close on and off the field and the friendship between Tony and Eamonn de Paor was a major factor in this. Tony was one of the first intake of pupils in Gormanston when those seminal coaching courses were a major factor in promoting coaching and development of our games. When Waterford got to an All Ireland u21 final in 1974 Tony was manager and in regular contact with Tallow and the conversations and arguments between Tony and Ned were informative, animated and vital in the teams progress that year. The process was repeated in 1992 when Tony was again manager of the u21s and I remember a phonecall coming to the house between the drawn final and replay where a discussion between Tony and Ned was thrashed out over whether to play an 18 year old with the name of Paul Flynn. Tony was also in regular contact with Eddie Cunningham and both served on the u21 management team in the late 90s. Of course he was always an Abbeyside man through and through and he served as chairman there for the last thirteen years and it is no coincidence that these years have seen their re-emergence as a force in both senior hurling and football.
On behalf of Tallow GAA club we extend our deepest sympathies to his wife Moira and his children Michael, Caroline, Brendan, Ruth and Sinead. Ar Dheis De go raibh a anam.
